The institutional vision of Plan Ceibal is to enable children and teenagers to develop their learning potential, creativity and critical thinking skills as global citizens, as well as to build innovative and inclusive education with an eye to the future in deep cooperation with teachers and the community.
RED GLOBAL DE APRENDIZAJES. A professional network that is changing the ways of teaching and learning through strategic working pillars:
- Teaching Practices: Learning by doing based on projects connected to real-life experiences where the student has the leading role and the teacher is the activator. Methodology to assess the development of competences.
- Learning Environments: The border of the classroom starts to vanish, and learning reaches across the playground, the neighborhood and also virtual spaces with access to knowledge.
- Digital Leverage: The universe of possibilities of digital tools as an accelerator of learning.
- Learning Alliances: The families and the community as active partners of the process. Educational centers that are open to experts and to the community.

Adaptive platform for Maths practice, that assigns activities to students according to their learning level and evolves with their skills progress; it detects areas to improve and allows the teacher to supervise online each student’s process.
Platform for Maths practice aimed at children in Preschool (age 5) up to 6th grade of Primary School. It provides a playful complement as the main strategy to improve the teaching and learning process. It also allows the teacher to keep the performance and achievement report for each of his/her students.
Communication and courses management tool that, like a social network, connects teachers with their students and teachers among them.
Digital library that grants free access to more than 8,000 digital resources, among which there are textbooks, the books selection recommended by ANEP and the study books of every Middle School subject recommended by teachers. In addition, any Uruguayan can register with his/her ID and access to all contents.
AN INTERNATIONAL MODEL
Plan Ceibal has overcome challenges that were new to the world and generated unique knowledge in the field of digital possibilities integrated into education. Uruguay is today a relevant actor in constant dialogue with avant-garde education systems and often takes part in international studies, conferences and alliances in connection with the transformation of pedagogies with technological support.
PROBLEMS ARE BETTER SOLVED WHEN FACED TOGETHER
When the first cases of COVID-19 were officially confirmed in Uruguay, face-to-face classes were suspended for all levels in all schools -public and private- throughout the country. In response, Plan Ceibal launched a contingency plan to mitigate the educational disruption: Ceibal en casa (Ceibal at home).
